A stabbing spree took place in Canada that led to two people losing their lives and five others injured. The criminal was an unidentified man in his twenties who was dressed in a rather odd attire and went on a stabbing spree in Quebec city on the night of Saturday.
The Police department of Quebec city, The Service de police de la Ville de Québec, have asked residents to remain vigilant and abstain from going near the area of the Parliament Hill. They were also asked to remain inside.
“We still ask the citizens of Quebec City to stay inside with the doors locked because an investigation is still underway,” the department tweeted the above in French. According to various reports, the suspect was dressed in a medieval costume with a sharp bladed weapon which was allegedly used to stab people. Those who were injured have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
The suspect was arrested by the local police at around 1 AM Canadian local time on Sunday. As per indigenous media reports, the incident took place near the Chateau Frontenac, on rue des Ramparts in Quebec city. So far, as per investigations, no reason or motive was observed for the crime yet. Investigations are still going on regarding the incident.
Quebec is a state with a large amount of French speakers. Several people have noticed that the crime takes on a very similar perspective of the knife crimes in France. According to reports, it is speculated that the crimes were committed by alleged Islamic extremists. Quebec, having a French dominated region have openly voiced out their support towards France.
