On Wednesday, Union Minister Smriti Irani tested positive for CoronaVirus. She announced about her being Covid positive on Twitter and urged everyone to get tested themselves who came in near proximity to her in last couple of days.
“It is rare for me to search for words while making an announcement; hence here’s me keeping it simple — I’ve tested positive for #COVID and would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest,” Irani said in a tweet.
Notably, Home Minister Amit Shah, late President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and others have tested positive for the virus. The latest in the list is Union Minister for Textiles and Women and Child Development.
After her announcement, alot of people tweeted and wished for her speedy recovery. “I pray for your speedy recovery,” Gadkari said in a tweet in response to Irani’s announcement.
Moreover, The Covid-19 tally in India zoomed past the eight million mark with 49,881 cases within a span of 24 hours. While the total caseload stood at 8,040,203, the death toll also rose to 120,527, according to data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
