A video is being surfaced of a woman Congress member being assaulted by a number of male members and being pushed away from the stage. The woman is Tara Yadav.
The Uttar Pradesh Congress has set up a committee to inquire about a incident in which a woman party member was assaulted by party workers at an event for allegedly questioning the decision behind fielding a rape accused for the upcoming assembly bypolls. The committee has been asked to submit its report within three days while two workers have been suspended from the party, ANI reported.
Tara Yadav also lodged a police complaint against four office-bearers of the party, including the district president.
Yadav told news agency ANI, “I was thrashed by party workers when I questioned party’s decision to give a ticket to a rapist, Mukund Bhaskar for upcoming by-polls. Now, I’m waiting for Priyanka Gandhi ji to take action.”
“A police complaint has been received. The matter is being probed. However, no case has been registered so far,” PTI quoted SHO Kotwali Chandrabhan Singh as saying.
Mukund Bhaskar Mani Tripathi is contesting from the Deoria Assembly seat.
This party has a view to regain the control of state. Sushil Chaudhary been fielded from Bulandshahr, while Mukund Bhaskar Mani Tripathi from Deoria. Notably, both started their political career with NSUI — the students’ wing of the Congress. Kamlesh Singh nominated from Naugat Sadat Assembly seat. She runs a school and also comes from a family of Congress leaders.
