COVID-19 is Airborne, says The CDC

The CDC on Monday revealed that COVID-19 can be transmitted through the air. “The reality is the airborne transmission is the main way that transmission happens at close range with prolonged contact.”

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Declared that Covid-19 can easily spread from the Coronavirus can spread through the air. This is because the virus lingers in the for hours in the air. The (CDC) said that they acknowledged the now evident airborne transmission of the virus.

The agency had previously published similar warnings but was taken down after their assertion was met with criticism and debates over the virus’ mode of transmission. The CDC had recently revised the guidelines after the revelation of an airborne transmission was evident.

In revised guidelines, the CDC revealed that evidence was observed that people with Covid-19 potentially transmitted the infection to others who were more than 6 feet away, within enclosed spaces along with poor ventilation.

CDC said: “under such circumstances, scientists believe the amount of infectious smaller droplet and particles, or aerosols, produced by the people with Covid-19 become concentrated enough to spread the virus.

The CDC additionally warned of transmission taking place via small droplets that shoot through the air and fall to the ground usually. This resulted in the social distancing rule globally.

Aerosol droplets are very small in size and can remain suspended in the air for a long time similar to smog. Meanwhile, a group of US scientists on Monday in an open letter published in the medical journal Science warned: “Aerosols lingering in the air could be a major source of novel coronavirus transmission.”

According to US researchers: “The reality is the airborne transmission is the main way that transmission happens at close range with prolonged contact.”

“Viruses in aerosols can remain in the air for seconds to hours, travel more than two meters and accumulate in poorly ventilated indoor air, leading to super spreading events,” The scientists revealed. (Source: IndiaToday)
