Shocking incident : UP Man, tears open pregnant wife’s stomach for son.

The man from UP wanted a son after having five daughters. Since, Prenatal sex determination is banned in India, The man resorted to cutting open the pregnant wife’s stomach to check the gender of the baby.

A heinous incident took place in UP on Saturday which involved a man slashing open his pregnant wife’s stomach. The man who is the father of Five daughters wanted to know the gender of the sixth baby. Since Prenatal sex determination is banned and criminalised in India, the man resorted to Lacerate his wife’s stomach to know the baby’s gender.

The criminal identified as Pannalal aged 35 for now. The man used a weapon with an extremely sharp edge to maim his wife’s stomach. The incident happened in the Nekpur locality under the Civil Lines police station Area. This resulted in the woman being injured terribly. According to senior police official Pravin Singh Chauhan. An FIR has been lodged against the spouse. The man has been arrested, Mr Chauhan┬ásaid, The reason of the crime is yet being investigated. The woman is reportedly six to seven months pregnant according to police.

The kin of the pregnant woman arrived in a hospital where she was rushed to in Bareilly. It is speculated that the man wanted a son after having five daughters and hence cut open her stomach to check the gender of the growing foetus. The locals found the battered woman and quickly rushed her to the district hospital from where she was admitted to the Bareilly hospital in a serious condition.

This incident has managed to open the centuries long taboo of the Indian society preferring sons over daughter. Despite, the progress and advocating for the girl child, many people still hold that mentality of a son being better than a daughter.
