The Prime Minister of Pakistan said: “Those who are in first degree, they should be castrated and operated upon to disable them from repeating such crimes.”
Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan has decided on severe punishments for the sex offenders and rapists in Pakistan. He presented the punishment of chemical castration for the convicted criminals. This is done so that the criminals won’t repeat the offence again. He also ordered for a national register to be made to keep track of such criminals.
Khan expressed his views on Regional television on Monday 14th September. He believed that the chemical castration is urgently required or must be compelled to undergo surgery of the same so that they don’t repeat the crime ever again. The harsh punishment makes him believe that the sexual crime rates will reduce in the country due to it.
Imran Khan also challenged the grading system for rapes and sexual assault cases in the country. Against the traditional classification of lines of the standard first, second and third-degree classification in place for murder cases. Khan spoke about the recent gang rape in Lahore. This rape sparked a national outrage on the heinous incident. Speaking and mentioning the nation’s anger on the incident, he said: “Those who are in first degree, they should be castrated and operated upon to disable them from repeating such crimes.”
The Prime Minister also presented another method to deal with the criminals. To deal with rapists and paedophiles, was to condemn them to fatal punishments. He ordered for the criminals to be hanged in public eyes as a justice for damaging and permanently scarring the victims and their families.
However, regarding the hanging of the criminals in public, he mentioned that his government believes that this form of punishment wouldn’t be supported by the world. He said it was impossible to know the exact no. of rape cases in the country, as they are severely under-reported in Pakistan. (Source: HindustanTimes)
