Shantasree Sarkar, a Journalist who resigned from Republic TV announced on twitter that the News Channel was running an Agressive Agenda against Rhea Chakraborty.
Recently, Rhea has been arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).She had drug-related charges linked to Sushant Singh Rajput, her boyfriend.
The Journalist spoke up against Republic TV and how they are playing unethical to vilify Rhea just because it’s a high profile case and it is gaining nation’s attention.
In a series of Tweets, She said, “Sources close to both families agreed #Sushant was suffering from depression. Of course it didn’t suit #Republic agenda.”
While talking about the unethical culture going on inside the channel, She said, “Then I witnessed how my colleagues started harassing any random people who visited Rhea’s apartment, didn’t even give up on asking uncomfortable questions to police & random delivery boys. They thought shouting & pulling a woman’s cloth will make them relevant in the channel!”
She also informed that she was told to takeout the financial information regarding the case.
KK Singh filed an FIR against Rhea and her family related to money Laundering. The Chakraborty was accused of Laundering 15 crore from Sushant’s account.
“The account details of #Rhea father was accessed, which didn’t get remotely linked to the agenda of siphoning of #sushant money for their two flats. Of course, this also didn’t suit the agenda!” the journalist wrote.
Not only this, she also informed that how she got punished for not publishing biased news. “As I was dealing with the trauma of how wrong this story is getting reported and how a woman is shamed publically, I was punished for not bringing out biased stories by making me work round the clock as a punishment. I worked for 72 hours straight without rest.”
However, this isn’t the first case when some journalist has spoken against Republic TV. The list includes a number of names.
A few days ago, Tejinder Singh Sodhi also resigned from Republic TV and said “I am telling you this out of my personal experience that everything here starts with Arnab and ends with Goswami… This was not the Journalism that I had joined Republic for, reporters were being used to do the hit job on behalf of Arnab.”
In support of her ex-colleagues from Republic TV, journalist Shweta Kothari has written, “They have shown exemplary courage, put their careers at risk to speak up. However a section of people is hell bent on vilifying them for joining Republic TV… When @republic was launched in 2017, we were all told that the venture will be different… None of us privately condoned the journalism Republic did, but were too low in the hierarchy to effect a change… These reporter who are finally putting their foot down and bringing you the truth, need your support and encouragement, not your judgment.”
However, Netizens are not in the mood to accept the #justiceforRhea campaign which is being initiated by Shantasree Sarkar. Some are even saying that She is doing this out of publicity but the ‘unethical agenda’ is something that needs the public attention.
