The Former President, who was admitted to the hospital for a brain surgery has been in coma since that. Along with COVID-19, his body also developed a Lung Infection and a Renal Dysfunction.
Former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee’s health does not seem to be getting better. After a lung infection he recently developed last week, his health has been rapidly declining. Mukherjee has also been in coma since a brain surgery. The surgery took place earlier this month. Mukherjee, 84, has been on constant ventilator support.
The Army’s research and Referral hospital, in which the former President is being treated, declared in a statement,“There is a decline in the medical condition of Pranab Mukherjee since yesterday. He is in septic shock due to his lung infection and is being managed by team of specialists. He continues to be in deep coma and on ventilator support.”
According to doctors at the hospital, Mukherjee had developed both and lung infection and renal dysfunction since the past few days. On Wednesday ,the hospital announced that Mukherjee’s “renal parameters are slightly deranged”. Due to multiple diseases his health has been steadily declining. (Source: IndianExpress)
Mukherjee was admitted to hospital on August 10 for his brain surgery, to get a clot removed . Not only that but he has also been battling with COVID-19 as he was tested positive for it in the hospital. “On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for COVID-19 today. I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please self-isolate and get tested for COVID-19,” he announced in a tweet.
Pranab Mukherjee served as the President of India from 2012 to 2017. He is the laureate of the Bharat Ratna, which India’s highest civilian award. A 72 hour Yagna was done for the former President’s speedy recovery.
