At Least, 10 members of the IPL franchise, MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings (CSK), including a member of the squad, have tested positive for Covid-19. According to reports, the player who has tested positive is a medium pacer who has played for the Indian national team. While the identity of the player is unconfirmed but Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur are the only two medium pacers of Indian origin in the current CSK squad.
Due to this new development, the entire CSK will undergo a Covid test for the fourth time and will remain in quarantine until September 1st . The members who have tested positive have been put in isolation and will undergo a test again in 15 days. Upon testing positive they will be allowed to rejoin the squad.
As per IPL guidelines and SOPs, each team was supposed to undergo a quarantine period of seven days, upon arrival in UAE ( United Arab Emirates). The players were to be tested on the first, third, and sixth days. Upon testing negative on all the occasions, they were allowed to train.
This will be a massive setback for the three-time champions as other teams have already started their training sessions. The marquee league is scheduled to start on the 19th of September with a brand new title sponsor Dream 11.
A total of 60 games will be played across three venues in UAE- Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. This is not the first time that IPL is being held in Dubai, as the 2014 edition was also held in Dubai due to the 2014 general elections.
