India’s recovery rate crosses 75% mark as recoveries exceed active cases by 3.5 times

The Corona virus recovery rate has exceeded the 75% mark. On Wednesday, the total number of recoveries shot to 24,67,758 and exceeded the active cases by 3.5 times, the Union health ministry said.

The number of active cases, which is the “actual caseload”, in the country is only 21.87% of total cases, the ministry added. According to the data uploaded, 63,173 patients recovered in 24 hours as of Wednesday at 8 am.

In terms of absolute numbers, the number of recovered patients exceed active cases by 17,60,489. “ With this India’s recovery rate stands at 76.3%”, the statement said.

“ The coordinated efforts of Centre and state and UT governments of early detection through aggressive testing and efficient clinical management of hospitalized cases have shown results with continuously regressing case fatality rate. It stands at 1.84 pc as on date, and steadily declining,” the report added.

Currently, the total number of Covid-19 cases in India has exceeded the 3 million mark. India has already achieved the unfortunate distinction of being the third country in the tally of most cases behind Brazil and the U.S. In less than four days the central government is all set to offer more relaxations in lockdown, as part of Unlock-4.
