Recently, An application has moved in the Karkardooma court to arrest former AAP councillor and Delhi riots accused Tahir Hussain on August 24 by The Enforcement Directorate (ED).
According to a report by TheQuint, Javed Ali, an advocate has confirmed this. He said, “Yes, the ED has moved an application, that is correct. I have asked for time to respond to what the application says.”
Notably, this is the first high profile move of arrest in Delhi riots investigation so far. The charge sheets filed by Delhi police states that Tahir Hussain along with the Popular Front of India and others were involved in the riots.
However, In March a criminal case has been filed against Hussain under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and Charges of Money Laundering and Alleged funding has also filed by ED.
After that In June, several raids were conducted on the residence of Tahir Hussain to investigate money-laundering case linked to February 2020 by ED. Delhi Police has alleged that Hussain was one of the masterminds in the alleged conspiracy.
Delhi Violence started after the clashes between Pro and Anti-CAA protesters in Jafrabad on February 23 night. This turned out to be a communal dispute and spread across north-east Delhi. Of the 53 people killed, two-thirds were Muslims who were shot, slashed with repeated blows or set on fire.
