Independence Day: India’s Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar yesterday, thanked nations like Russia, Bhutan, Maldives, etc for their wishes on 15th August.
Jaishankar yesterday thanked several nations, for wishing India on its Independence Day. Nations like Russia, Bhutan, The Maldives, Lithuania ,and Latvia thanked India on its 74th year of Independence.
Abdulla Shahid, the Foreign Minister of Maldives, expressed in his tweet, ” Greetings and best wishes to the people & Government of India. Since Independence, India has strived to be, & now become an enduring example of democracy, & development, for the region, and the world! Wish continued progress &prosperity!”
Jaishankar responded to his tweet . He said that the relationship between India and the Maldives is a shining example of “Neighbourhood First.”
The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Russia had also greeted India on its Independence Day . Congratulated Ministers like Modi and Jaishankar for its Independence. They also shared a GIF of the Indian flag and Russian Flag. Jaishankar thanked them and said, that India greatly values the exceptionally close and time tested relationship with Russia.
Bhutanese Foreign Minister Tandi Dorji tweeted, “I take this privilege to wish every Indian a very #HappyIndependenceDay. I pray for your great country to grow from strength to strength.” Replying to Dorji, Jaishankar said, “Your warm sentiments reflect our unique relationship.” Jaishankar also thanked Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi for his congratulatory call on Independence Day.
Finally, Jaishankar thanked his counterparts in the Nations of Latvia and Lithuania for their wishes.
The 74th Independence Day ceremony took place at the Red Fort in Delhi. More than 4000 people were present at the venue, including diplomats, officials and media personnel. Safety protocols followed during the event. social distancing and usage of face masks had been observed.
