Kerala: As much as 24 officers who participated in the rescue of Kozhikode Air India airplane crash resulted in COVID-19 positive. Officers include Malappuram District Collector, Assistant Collector, Sub Collector, and District police chief with 20 others. Among them, few were senior revenue officials and deputy collectors.
Reportedly, these officials had interacted with several ministers regarding the airplane crash of Air India Express B-737 at Karipur.
The list among 24 included Union Minister for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Assembly Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan, Industry Minister E.P. Jayarajan, Health Minister K.K. Shailaja, Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunil Kumar, Ports Minister Kadannappalli Ramachandran, Transport Minister A.K. Sasindran, Local Administration Minister A.C. Moideen, Higher Education Minister K.T. Jaleel, Excise Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan, Chief Secretary Vishwas Mehta, and Director General of Police Loknath Behra.
Meanwhile, Malappuram’s COVID-19 graph has raised with over 960 positive cases since Monday.
However, dozens in contact with the positive patients have self-quarantined and several areas have been sealed. Some of the containment areas include, Kottakkal Municipality, Kondotty Municipality, Othukkungal panchayat, Pallikkal panchayat, Pulikkal panchayat, and many wards in Niramarathur, Wandoor and Chaliyar panchayats.
