The former BJP district Chief was shot dead by three men during his morning walk in his fields, investigations said.
Sanjay Khokhar, who was the former Bharatiya Janta Party(BJP) district chief, was shot dead whilst he was on a morning walk in the fields. The shooting took place near his house, police said on Tuesday. The current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Aditiyanath had called for a probe into the incident and expects the reports within 24 hours.
Sanjay’s body was found dead, lying next to a sugarcane field, with his shirt drenched in his blood, according to NDTV reports. The 55-year old was murdered in the agricultural fields he owned in Bhagpat district at around 6:30 AM.
According to reports so far, he was shot multiple times before succumbing to the gunshots. Three men seem to be involved in the murder. Bhagpat’s police chief, Mr Ajay Kumar had said, “We have carried out a prima facie investigation and it seems to be a case of personal enmity. However, we are going to investigate this thoroughly and make the arrests soon. There seem to be no eyewitnesses in the case. Multiple teams have been deployed as part of the probe.”
Bhagpat has seen a lot of killings in the past, with this being the most latest one. The previous one was of RLD leader Deshpal Khokhar and Paramveer Tugna. Both of them were killed in the gunfire.
Anshu Awasthi, The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee(UPCC) spokesperson said, “The murder of BJP leader Sanjay Khokhar in Bhagpat today once again confirms that there is no law and order in the state. People are fed up with the three years of ‘Jungle Raj’ by the Yogi Aditiyanath Government. When leaders from the ruling side are killed, one can imagine the safety of the common people.” She expresses whilst speaking to News18.
